Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

Pre-event / Post event Crew

Available shifts: Friday Morning & Midday. Sunday Midday & Evening (also put up signs week before the Festival)

• Put up/takedown Highway sign
• Put up/ takedown Parking Signs
• Put up/takedown Festival Signage
• Setup & Cleanup Crew

Set up & Breakdown Crew

Available shifts: Friday Morning & Midday. Sunday Midday & Evening

• Set up tents, tables, signage, décor, and equipment
• Post‑event teardown, packing, and grounds cleanup
• Ideal for volunteers comfortable with physical tasks

Info Booth Hosts & Merch Sales

Available shifts: Friday Midday & Evening. Saturday Morning, Midday & Evening, Sunday Morning, Midday & Evening.

• Greet guests and provide festival maps, schedules, and directions
• Answer questions about tours, ticketed experiences, and museum offerings
• Sell Merchandise
• Manage lost & found
• Serve as the friendly “front door” of the festival

Stage & Entertainment Support

Available shifts: Friday  Midday & Evening. Saturday Morning, Midday & Evening. Sunday Morning & Midday.

• Assist performers with load‑in/out
• Help manage crowd flow around performance areas
• Communicate timing updates or issues with festival Managers

Virginia V Cruise Check-in at the dock

Available Shifts: Saturday Evening

• Check in tickets
• Offer customer‑service support for day‑of questions

Sea Discovery Kid’s Zone Open Friday & Saturday 11am-4pm

Available shifts: Friday Morning & Midday. Saturday Morning & Midday. 

• Set up and tare down 
• Sell Crafts
• Support hands‑on crafts
• Keep materials stocked and the area tidy
• Engage families and ensure a safe, welcoming environment
• Great for volunteers who enjoy working with children

Heritage Lawn Kid’s Zone

Available shifts: Friday Morning & Midday, Saturday Morning & Midday. Sunday Morning & Midday.

• Support  maritime‑themed activities
• Keep materials stocked and the area tidy
• Engage families and ensure a safe, welcoming environment
• Great for volunteers who enjoy working with children

Social Media & Photography

Available shifts: Friday Midday & Evening.  Saturday Morning, Midday & Evening. Sunday Morning & Midday.

• Capture candid festival moments, vessel tours, and crowd energy
• Provide real‑time photos or short clips for festival social channels
• Assist with documenting sponsor visibility and volunteer activity
• Must be comfortable with basic photography or smartphone content creation
• Must have your own gear 
• Post online / social media

Vendor & Partner Support

Available shifts: Friday Morning & Midday

• Layout grid for Booths 
• Assist vendors with setup needs and basic troubleshooting
• Check in periodically to ensure they have what they need
• Help direct guests to vendor areas
• Communicate issues to festival coordinators

General Support & Floaters

Available shifts: Friday Morning , Midday & Evening. Saturday Morning, Midday & Evening. Sunday Morning, Midday & Evening. 

• Fill in where needed across the festival footprint
• Support crowd flow, answer questions, and monitor activity zones
• Ideal for flexible volunteers who enjoy variety
